Some more Tips on How to Plan a Wedding

  • The first thing to consider is your vision for your wedding. What kind of location fits your idea of how you want your special day to be? How formal or informal of an event do you want it to be? What do you want the wedding party to wear? What time of day do you want to married and celebrate? What kind of food do you want served? Do you want bar services for your reception? What kind of décor will enhance your event?
  • Pick a date that works with both your wedding ceremony and reception venues .
  • Most importantly—set a budget. Choose one that is functional but still flexible. You want to fulfill your dream but you also need to be practical.
  • Decide on a size of your wedding. How many guests do you expect to attend?
  • Find the ceremony and reception venues. Consider having the ceremony and reception in the same location or in close proximity to each other.
  • Select your officiant. Make sure you are aware of any rules or restrictions regarding ceremony and ceremony site.
  • Select your wedding attendants.
  • Choose your wedding dress and the wedding party attire.
  • Select your wedding rings. A fun task to do together as a couple.
  • Plan your pre-wedding parties and honeymoon.
  • Make a guest list. You may have to compromise on your guest list if you are working with a limited budget.
  • Consider the menu, decorations, favors, entertainment and music for your ceremony and reception.
  • Choose a wedding cake.
  • Interview and hire your vendors: photographer, video professional, florist and entertainment, limousine and a wedding coordinator if you are using one.
  • Check the state requirements for obtaining a marriage license.
  • Sign up for registries and order invitations.
  • Book hotel rooms if needed for out of town guests.
  • Plan your rehearsal and rehearsal dinner.
  • Keep a wedding planning folder with vendor information.
